Such a shame

This was both the highlight and lowpoint of my day yesterday.

I decided on a whim to go crazy and buy a beautiful Miu Miu top off Flannels, it was £115, but cut down from £575!!! It looked absolutely perfect for occasions like smart meals and dates, as I dont really have any nice tops to go with jeans.

Look how perfect it is!!!

So I went ahead and bought it thinking that if it fit then I could ask my parents for it to be my main christmas present.

But alas, when it arrived in the post yesterday and I tried it on, I was hugely disappointed to find that it didnt look half as nice on as it did on the website... The right side hung down lower than the left, which I'm sure was intentional, but lopsided-ness doesnt appeal to me unfortunately... Also, the pleats along the top stuck out giving an odd side view, as well as some of the tucked-up pleats in the middle just looking like mistakes. Overall, it just didnt do much for me, and wasnt worth the £115, let alone the original £575!!

So all in all it was a bit of a disappointment, so will have to send it back with haste to get my money back!

free chocolate!

om nom nom

Posted by ShoZu

It has been a while to say the least since my last post, but I've decided to start this thing up again. Mainly to cure the boredom at work. I'm going to set a slightly different theme as well... I've noticed recently that sometimes (all the time), little things happen during my day that just make it a little brighter. I.e things that make my day. So I'm going to document those little things here.

Today -

What made my day today, was that people were giving out free chocolate right outside my office! I was previously in a rather rubbish mood due to another colleage but this cheered me right up!

Heidi Montag's new face

Just been watching the episode of my guilty pleasure - The Hills.... How UGLY is Heidi now!? She was so beautiful before, I always thought she was so much prettier than Lauren. And now she just looks horrendous. I personally think that anyone who undergoes that much surgery just ends up looking completely grotesque. I dont understand how she can think that she looks better like this.

Sketchbook illustrations

Although hand-drawn, scribbly cutsyness is kind of old news in fashion graphics now, I still find it appealing as it has such a childish nostalgia to it.

These are actually illustrations of Susanna Lau of Style Bubble fame. I would be pretty honoured if someone had painted such beautiful depictions of me...

Compositionally these next images are stunning. I love the use of orange as the spot colour, and particularly the doilies! I also think the Japanese text looks fantastic visually as part of the artwork.

Sketchbook

Whilst trawling various blogs and websites for bits and bobs for my project I came across Sketchbook magazine, a relatively new publication which you can either read online or order in print... however this is about $26..
I've currently been reading the first issue which is based around bloggers so it's really interesting for me as I'm currently trying to build a list of relevant bloggers to send a Dunce Apparel press release to.
What I particularly love about this magazine is not only the fantastic journalism but the editorials, layouts and also illustrations: often filling entire pages, they are completely captivating. I keep finding more and more pages that I want to include, so I might have to split it up into separate posts...

A little in love with Miss Dahl

So today I've been watching The Delicious Miss Dahl, the BBC's wonderful new cooking show where Sophie Dahl talks us through some of her favourite recipes. I'm completely addicted already, even the opening credits had me won over with its adorable the hand drawn elements and sweet music.
Sophie herself is a complete natural on screen, and completely drew me in with her personal stories of her perfect-sounding childhood - her grandmother teaching her to cook meringue, memories of eating rhubarb and sugar in the garden...
She is disarmingly pretty, with her heart shaped face and almost unnaturally large eyes. Its also hard not to adore her perfect, well spoken, Queen's English accent, which is wonderfully girly and feminine.
Her clear love of food and pleasure of cooking has me completely seduced. I just wish I had the time, money and skill to do it all myself!

Dunce Apparel

I know its been a while since my last post, but I've been busy working hard on my marketing project - the first half of which I handed in recently. For my project I am devising and implementing a PR campaign for my friend's label Dunce Apparel. The brand is urban and quirky with a rock and roll sensibility, it is in line with other brands such as All Saints, Diesel and G-Star. Dunce Apparel already has support from Vogue, and with increased awareness amongst the public, the press and the industry I think it could go really far.

Megan Foxxx

I think Megan Fox might be turning me into a lesbian. I actually want to marry her.
